5 Reasons you need to Print your Digital Photos….ASAP

5. The Practical Reason - You Might Lose Them

Hard drives fail, computers have coffee spilled on them, phones get dropped in toilets and left on park benches - #momlife - and if you’re like most people, you’re not backing up your images by storing them in at least two places.

4. You’re more likely to actually put them in that frame you bought at IKEA three months ago

You know it’s true.

3. It’s Easier Than You Think

Printing photos is not the daunting task you think it is. Put them in a folder on a USB or hard drive and take them into a printer near you and place your order - pick up later that day. You can print them all 4x6 (10x15) and store them in a little box. Your kids will LOVE it. Sit down as a family and select the ones you want to put in frames. It’s a lovely activity, you’ve now got some new art for your walls, and this is really an amazing thing for children to have in their home.

Pro tip: sort your photos first, then print the ones you love. Here’s a simple guide on how to go about doing that.

1. It’s Important for kids

Printed photos, especially when displayed in the home, give children a sense of security and belonging. But don’t take my word for it. Countless phycologists and emotional well-being experts have conducted numerous studies on the subject. David Krauss, a licensed psychologist and a pioneer in the use of photography to assist in mental health counseling and therapy says,

“...placing a family photo someplace in the home where the child can see it every day without having to turn on a device or click around on a computer to find it really hits home for that child this sense of reassurance and comfort.”

There is also a wonderful sensory experience that happens when you touch and hold a physical photograph, as opposed to seeing it on a screen. It is akin to touching a book and turning its pages when you read it. The brain is stimulated when you have that sensory experience which gets a bit lost in the digital world.
